About this deal

From a galaxy far, far away to your living room – LEGO® Star Wars™ sets for adults are designed for you, the discerning hobbyist who enjoys hands-on creative projects to relax and recharge Dagobah seems to be inhabited by a rather limited number of sentient creatures. Thankfully, this LEGO set includes the maximum population of such beings — Yoda himself, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2. This version of Luke features a new torso and leg printing, while Yoda is indistinguishable to my eye from previous versions. The price per piece should exclude 1x1 plates, pips, and tiles, to give a true impression of the value for money. In this set nearly 200 trans green 1x1 pieces are used. Subtract that from the piece count and then re-do the maths. This set is tremendously expensive for what it is. A nice model and a lovely rendition of the scene. But pricey. That said, LEGO know that if you want it, you should buy it now. Waiting a few months will leave you in the manipulated scalpers market, likely paying double. Either way, it’s likely to sell out soon.

Luke's accessories are kept outside the hut, including a portable generator and the lamp that Yoda memorably attempts to steal! This technology stands out to a surprising degree, as grey parts are otherwise restricted to the sunken X-wing. The plants surrounding the swamp appear excellent as well, featuring muted colours. However, there is an obvious issue with R2-D2 here, as the dome printing is woefully askew. Similar problems have occurred consistently since 1999, so their repetition is frustrating. The issue is never universal though and will hopefully be relatively isolated on this occasion, since this design otherwise looks superb. It began a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Now the saga continues in your own home with a collection of top-quality LEGO Star Wars sets for adults, including other buildable dioramas depicting memorable scenes. Luke Skywalker's X-wing starfighter famously crashes into the Dagobah swamp, leaving only wing tips visible above the surface. The S-foil is therefore included, featuring Luke's Red Five markings on a printed 1x3 tile. The laser cannon looks good too, although the vehicle crashes with its wings together, hence another laser cannon should be mounted underneath. As of spring 2022, LEGO will have released a wave of 3 different Star Wars diorama sets. LEGO plans to release additional waves of dioramas in the future. Diorama Price Range While the three designs for these characters are as expected and add that LEGO charm to the scene they sit within, would a display-based LEGO Star Wars set with a completely different design ethos not be the perfect opportunity to introduce a more accurately-sized Yoda and R2-D2? Yoda’s hut has been designed so authentically that Yoda the minifigure – who still stands way too tall next to a regular minifigure – cannot fit through the front door… The buildable LEGO Star Wars Helmet series also features an 18+ recommendation for similar reasons as the dioramas. How many LEGO Star Wars Diorama set are there?

The swamp around the hut has a number of plant-based elements ready to ping off should you attempt to dive in with those clumsy fingers, while the trees are likewise very much built into the hut and with a higher number of looser-than-usual connections than you’d otherwise expect. Inspired by Star Wars: A New Hope, the LEGO Star Wars Death Star™ Trench Run Diorama invites builders to recreate the gripping scene of Darth Vader™’s pursuit of Luke Skywalker™, as Luke fights to destroy the newly-built Death Star for a victory on the Rebellion side. Finish off the build with the memorable words of Darth Vader, “The Force is strong with this one.” Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama brings a new level of authenticity to mid-range LEGO Star Wars sets in a way that is entirely new – what can come from such a creative direction is exciting to consider. As mentioned, the colour of the swamp is somewhat jarring, but for display purposes, it really helps add life to the overall scene and contrasts nicely with the tree and hut above the surface.R2-D2 might be the most exciting figure among these three, unusually! The famed Astromech droid rarely experiences substantial changes, so decorating the reverse of his cylindrical body feels significant. The design looks great, matching both the onscreen character and the panels across the front. I love the splattered mud as well, even though Artoo's struts seem too clean. It’s a fascinating concept from the LEGO Star Wars team to venture into early into this third decade of the theme’s history, particularly for – alongside being given the 18+ label – how it does allow for a different style of LEGO set design. Where both previous versions of Yoda’s hut were geared towards surviving play and offering deliberate interaction with fingers both big and small, 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama is way more intricately designed and is physically constructed into the base it sits on. During the build, I felt like I was attaching a lot of random arches and curved slopes to build up Yoda’s hut and the trees. However, upon completion, they fit together rather beautifully. This building technique has previously appeared in 70620 NINJAGO City and its successors, featuring differing plates beneath the water. The effect here is relatively subtle because these trans-green elements are darker than the trans-light blue water from the NINJAGO City series. Assembling the 1x1 tiles is inherently repetitive, but I think the result warrants that complexity. Nearly 200 trans-green 1x1 tiles comprise the swamp, alongside 1x1 plates. That blending of different textures is nice, including bubbling water around the exposed X-wing S-foil. However, even more effective are the various colours underneath these plates and tiles, giving a realistic illusion of deeper water further from the shore."

It’s even more clear that this set is one designed for adults to enjoy the build process, rather than a playset for kids, when there are numerous details that become less visible as the build progresses. For example, Yoda never uses his lightsaber in the Original Trilogy, but Luke has it with him in The Book of Boba Fett. Providing a bit of a non-canon explanation, this set shows us that Yoda was storing it in the rafters of his hut. As we noted earlier, the third bag of parts consists entirely of trans-green 1×1 pieces (both tiles and plates), which cover the variously colored layer below to convey differences in the swamp’s depth. I’m not much of a mosaic builder, but I learned that placing about 200 1×1 pieces without paying attention to my form can result in some mild repetitive stress pain — I can’t imagine what CJ and our #MosaicsOnMonday builders must feel! Anyway, once you’ve finished laying down lots of landscaping detail, you’ll finally start building Yoda’s hut and the mangrove-like trees it sits under. Luke's double-sided head has been assigned a new part number, but appears identical to the previous design. His concentrating face, with closed eyes for using the Force, looks absolutely perfect. Yoda appears unchanged too, although his torso also features a different number in the instruction manual. Regardless, no changes were needed because the Jedi Master's worn robe looks marvellous. Crap, I might have talked myself out of at least two of the sets being overpriced :) I still stand by the trench run set being too pricey. Build your collection – This set is part of a series of collectible LEGO® Star Wars™ build-to-display diorama models, each depicting a beloved Star Wars sceneLEGO Star Wars Diorama Sets are a series of LEGO sets recreating unforgettable scenes in the Star Wars franchise. Each set captures the details, suspense and nostalgia of beloved moments in Star Wars history. LEGO launches the new product line in late April 2022. Here’s everything you need to know about the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection. The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author. Minifigures It’s important to consider the creative direction that 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama represents – this is LEGO building for an older audience not interested in play, looking for detail, depth and authenticity to their LEGO creations so as to place them proudly on display, to gather only the type of dust a more sophisticated, older LEGO fan can generate. Luke Skywalker's training on Dagobah is probably my favourite sequence from throughout the Star Wars saga and 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training presents the scene beautifully. The swampy environment looks marvellous and features exceptional detail, while Yoda's hut achieves superb accuracy when compared with the source material, as anticipated.
